Our Story

Phil's Concrete Pumping, Inc. was founded in 1990 by Phillip Weigel of Whittier, California. Prior to starting his own company, Phil worked for another pump company running pea gravel pumps for approximately three years. He found himself struggling through the recession in 1989-1990 and was unsure how his future as a concrete pump operator was going to look like. He had a handful of contractors requesting him on job sites as a pump operator; however, there were two other operators with more seniority who were dispatched first. His answer to this dilemma was to have T/A Pumps build his first pump and start his own concrete pump company so that he became the first man dispatched to the job!

Within five years, Phil was giving away about 60% of his work due to conflicting pour schedules. In 1995 he purchased his second pump and hired a great experienced operator and started training another.

However, our growth slowed down when the Great Recession of 2008 hit. We survived and have been running strong again since 2013 with the support and many thanks to our local customers and dedicated pump operators.
